A solid film about sneaking out to go to the biggest party of the school year where hijinks naturally ensues? Add in the wild early ’90s outfit nostalgia, and that’s all the reasons to love this movie!

This remake is better than the original — there, I said it! But in all seriousness, baby Lindsay Lohan acted her heart out in this movie and helped create one of the most touching summer films of all time!

Where to watch: Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video

4.

Dazed and Confused (1993)

Universal Pictures

This film is a true classic in my mind! It perfectly and believably follows a group of teenagers on their first night of summer vacation in the ’70s — and makes me nostalgic for a time I wasn’t even born! Incredible!

Where to watch: Hulu and Amazon Prime Video

5.

Friday (1995)

New Line Productions

The first installment in the Friday trilogy, and definitely the most quoted and most iconic of the three films. Following one hot summer day for two friends in their neighborhood and the hilarious trouble they get themselves into, I definitely consider this a necessary summer watch.

Where to watch: HBO Max, Hulu, Peacock, and Amazon Prime Video

6.

Girls Trip (2017)

This film is such a super-fun and heartwarming watch! Just a hilarious story of a gal pal weekend in New Orleans, where the characters not only reunite with each other but also with their brave past selves.

Jaws (1975)

Universal Pictures

A film that only gets campier with age, but it would be a ~crime~ to not feature the original summer blockbuster on this list! This movie is always worth the watch, in my opinion.

Where to watch: Amazon Prime Video

8.

Daddy Day Care (2003)

Not gonna lie, I think this is one of the cutest films in existence. A group of quirky dads starting the best day care center for their children? I mean, it’s just so adorable!

A more obscure coming-of-age summer comedy, but definitely worth the watch! This tale of love, culture shock, and an interesting summer for a young boy is one that you should at least see once.
