Earlier it was a compulsion to release films in theaters only. It is not so now. The digital revolution has affected entertainment like other industries. The biggest impact of this has been on the viewers of those remote areas who do not have the facilities of cinema halls.

It was a great experience making the film ‘Soorma’. As soon as I heard the story of that film, I felt like making a film. Now again another similar script has been received which is in the works. I am not a full time filmmaker. I get excited just listening to the script. We are going to announce our next film soon. I am an artist by heart. Just like I do acting when I fall in love with a character, similarly I do filmmaking only when my heart falls for a story.

I don’t run after a lot of work. I want a job of my choice. Every day one or the other proposal keeps coming. But the combination of offer and choice is very important to me. Had to stay away from films for some years in between due to personal reasons. Yes, during that time I definitely had to leave some films even though I liked them. My next film after ‘Gaslight’ is going to start from next month. Can’t tell much about it right now but this character is of my choice and for this I have once again challenged myself. I hope the audience will love my work in this film.

My character of Geeta Rao in the film ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’ is one of the few happy memories of my life. Wherever I go, people still call me by the name of this character. When this film was made, I had less experience and more passion. I didn’t even know much about acting. It can be said that the film ‘Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi’ became my first school of acting. Shiney Ahuja was also in that film. Swanand Kirkire, Shantanu Moitra, Ruchi Narayan, all of them also had this film as a school in a way.
