Power supply has also come under threat due to landslides in Joshimath city and nearby villages. While the pillars and lines of UPCL may collapse anytime, preparations have started to shift Pitkul’s 66 KV sub-station.
Electric poles, lines can fall anytime
UPCL’s power house is in danger. Apart from this, the lines and poles laid for the supply can fall at any time. UPCL MD Anil Kumar had sent a team there under the leadership of Chief Engineer. Goods are being sent by UPCL on the recommendation of the team. The MD said that all the pillars which came under the ambit of danger would be removed. The lines are also being secured.
Pitkul’s 66 KV sub station will be shifted
Pitkul MD PC Dhyani along with his team inspected at Joshimath on Monday. Pitkul’s 66 KV substation has also come under the threat of landslide. The surrounding land is sinking. After inspection, MD discussed shifting of sub station with Secretary Energy R Meenakshi Sundaram and ADM Abhishek Tripathi. The search for land has been started for this. At the same time, Chief Engineer Garhwal has been asked to camp at Joshimath itself till further orders. Along with this, after reviewing the impact on the projects under construction, lines, towers and sub-stations, the report will be given to the MD.
