Voting on the trust vote for the Prime Minister took place in the Parliament of Nepal on Tuesday. Pushpa Kamal Dahal got 268 votes in support. He did not get only two votes out of 270 votes.
Before winning the vote of confidence in the House of Representatives, Prime Minister Prachanda had said that he wanted to pursue a politics of consensus, cooperation and mutual trust rather than a politics of rejection, disrespect and retaliation.
Took oath as Prime Minister for the third time on 26 December
The 68-year-old leader of the Nepal Communist Party-Maoist Center was sworn in as the prime minister for the third time on December 26. He dramatically walked out of the Nepali Congress-led pre-poll alliance and joined hands with Leader of the Opposition KP Sharma Oli.
‘Will take forward the politics of consent, cooperation and mutual trust’
Nepal’s first parliament session began on Monday after the appointment of Prime Minister Prachanda. Addressing the lower house, Prachanda said that he wanted to pursue politics of consensus, cooperation and mutual trust instead of politics of rejection, disrespect and retaliation as Prime Minister.
‘Want to give the world the message of national unity in Nepal’
The Prime Minister said that as head of government, he wanted to convey the message of national unity in Nepal to the world. He has resolved to remain dedicated towards his duties and responsibilities and give something new to the people. Prachanda needed 138 votes in the 275-member parliament to continue his term as prime minister.
