Police as well as intelligence agencies have started investigation into the matter of repeated threats to Rampur MP Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi. In preliminary investigation, it has come to light that the number from which messages are being sent on the MP’s WhatsApp and calls are being made is from Odisha. He gets off when he gets the number. There is a possibility that this call is being made from Pakistan and Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) technology is being used for this.

The MP first received the threat on his WhatsApp on the night of 05 January. The person making the threat had described himself as Lashkar-e-Khalsa spokesperson Sandeep Singh Khalistani. The MP informed the SP about this message. After this, the police had registered a report against Sandeep Singh at Civil Lines Kotwali on January 06. After registering the report, a message came on his WhatsApp that withdraw the case or else he will kill along with his family. After this, a threatening message came on his WhatsApp on Saturday. This time the person making the threat has said that CM Yogi will also be targeted. The MP says that there were two WhatsApp calls at 12:43 and 12:49, which were received by his son Ajay Lodhi. Apart from threatening to kill, the caller used abusive words and said to withdraw the case, otherwise you will not be able to escape. The MP has again informed the police.

ADG Bareilly Zone PC Meena and DIG Shalabh Mathur have taken cognizance of the matter of repeated threats to the MP. Both have directed Rampur SP Ashok Kumar Shukla to investigate the matter and take action. Meena came to Rampur on Saturday and spoke to the SP on the issue. The SP says that in this case so far it has been informed that the number from which the message is being sent is from Odisha and has been switched off for two weeks. WhatsApp is also switched off on calls. He said that there is every possibility that the threat to the MP is being given from outside the country and for this Voice over Internet Protocol technology is being used. He said that we will soon reach the accused.

After repeated threats to the MP, officials of intelligence agencies met him on Sunday. Police has increased the security of the MP. ASP Dr. Sansar Singh reached his residence to meet him. After this his security has been increased. The police has also arranged for an escort for them. On the other hand, MP Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi says that he has no enmity with anyone. Supporters and party workers thronged to meet him at his residence and office.
