Raveena Tandon shares video of Grammy winner Ricky Kej touching Stewart Copeland’s feet


Ricky Kej, an Indian musician, won his second Grammy on Sunday night in the Best New Age Album category, along with collaborator Stewart Copeland, at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. Raveena Tandon shared a video from the award ceremony in which Ricky is seen on stage touching Stewart’s feet. Ricky was praised by the actor for “respecting his guru.” Stewart is the founder and drummer of the iconic rock band The Police, and Ricky has frequently expressed his admiration for the veteran musician.


Ricky and Stewart were nominated for a Grammy for their album Divine Tides. Ricky’s second Grammy victory, and Stewart’s sixth. As the duo took the stage, Ricky bowed down and touched Stewart’s feet as a sign of respect.

Raveena tweeted a video of Ricky and Stewart receiving the award, writing, “Second Grammy for #rickykej #GrammyAwards #GRAMMYs. So so proud. Brings the divinity of our culture to an international stage. #coexistence #VasudhaivaKutumbakam love and respect for life, all species. Pays respect to his guru. #proudtobeindian.” Ricky replied to Raveena, saying, “Thank you so much for posting. Means a lot.”

Raveena was particularly taken with the scene in the video in which Ricky touched Stewart’s feet on the stage before accepting the award. Many fans praised the musician’s gesture as well. In response to Raveena’s tweet, a fan wrote, “@rickykej it is an astounding moment for us to witness touching the feet of your guru on an international stage following our roots.” Another fan wrote in a tweet, “That really gives us a sense of self-esteem & pride in our culture & traditions.”
